On the Groundfloor we had a sneak preview of what our concept is: «EMERGING AFRICAN CONTEMPORARY ART X ENGADIN ART» because we do believe, that it is this confrontation of cultures that cristallizes out cultural similarities and cultural differences between living and art making in Africa and the Engadin. In our sneak preview we showed works of #SenegaleseArtist SANDIRY NIANG and our longtime Manufactura Protégé GABRIELE MARINONI
First Solo Show of the #ChâteauPapillon: It is our motivation to discover, support and promote YOUNG ENGADIN TALENTS. OUR « YOUNG ENGADIN TALENT of Château Papillon Nr.1 was #AGOSTINASCHENONE @agoschenone. A young local Fotografer, born and raised in #Argentina, but who found a new home in #StMoritz. She has never exhibited before and we are super proud to present her and support her. She is amazing. She lives from commissioned shoots – so if you need sb who makes amazing #fotos, before booking a non local, turn to a talented YOUNG LOCAL FEMALE FOTOGRAFER.
On the first floor, we had a « visiting friend of château » Kilian Saueressig a #LightArtist from Germany, who has a career background in the industry and spilled over his technological passion into his sculptural light paintings. @kiliansaueressig
Tilly Joos is a young local,
who grew up in #StMoritz
before having now spent her first year at the #ZHDK Zürich.
(Gestalterisches Propädeutikum)
Despite her young age, Tilly Joos' strong consistency makes her body of work not only highly colorful-and joyful without exception,
but her deep dealing with #folkart from #Mexico and folk art from the Alpine Region developed apparent features of instantaneous recognition:
The returning palette of colors and strong Symbolism - recurrent symbols of the Snake - of the Eye - of Religious Figures ... - are indeed also romantically rooted in the inspiration given to her by her personal tights to her grandparents: the ones living part time in Mexico, the other grandmother cultivating a fairy garden of Catusses in Italy. She says herself, that she biologically inherited her grandmothers fascination for cactuses - a plant with highly surrealistic shapes.
